Technology

Google Drive is a lifesaver. Students have all of their documents saved on The Cloud, so there is never an issue of losing material. Also, students will share documents with me via Drive, which allows me to give them online feedback that is easy, clean, and detailed. Students are also able to share their documents with one another, making peer edits less cumbersome. This piece of technology has really improved writing in my classroom.

I realize that student learning needs to transcend the bounds of classroom walls. For an authentic experience to take place, students should be given the tools and opportunity to explore the world and people around them. Also, the ideas and theories formulated in class need to be tested in the outside world.

Project-Based Learning

  1. Students research a global issue and create a literature review based off their findings

  2. Students put in a plan of action to solve their area of study

  3. Students take action

  4. Students interact globally to solve problems with like-minded peers

  5. Students present findings to community, school, and peers
